Scientology in Las Vegas, Nevada
This site is a critical review of what Scientology passes off as orgs or churches, dianetics centers, missions, and front-groups. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the official Church of Scientology web site located at, www.scientology.org
My name is Ted Mayett. What will follow in the pages to come will be a picture and text story of what might well be, the greatest Potemkin village(1) that Scientology has.
Las Vegas is not the only city with a Scientology presence, but Las Vegas is a special city for Scientology. From a 1980 newspaper article we learn that:
Well, in January 2004, the Scientology presence in Las Vegas, Nevada is quite pathetic.
They used to have Dianetics Centers and Missions in Mail Boxes Etc. These things were pure lies. They would claim that they were real things, but all they were was a mailing address. I pushed them out of mailing boxes. My camera and web work forced them to move dianetics centers and missions into real addresses. As you will learn as you go through this site, even today, January 2004, they still do not have real businesses here. They have two real business here, and that is all. All the rest of it are private homes, and answering machines. In fact, if one were to make a lot of phone calls around America, as I do. They would learn that much of Scientology is only an answering machine.
(1)Potemkin village: Something that appears elaborate and impressive but in actual fact lacks substance.
